Celebrating 2026 Lori Canova Leadership and Recognition Award Recipient: Eva Gaudio
Each year, "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County presents the Lori Canova Leadership and Recognition Award to one volunteer whose compassion, consistency, and belief in our Dreamer Scholars truly stands out. Past recipients — Janet Dilz, Marie Vicek, Linsey Layman — share a common thread: they showed up, stayed, and gave more than anyone asked.
Eva Gaudio is this year's recipient. And she has done all of that!
Eva's journey with IHDF began as a mentor to Dreamer Scholar Madalyn of the Carbon Valley cohort. The two built something lasting — searching for the best burger in Longmont, navigating high school together, showing up in ways that only deepen with time. When Madalyn graduated and headed to CU Boulder with 85% of her tuition covered, Eva was there, in tears and full of pride.
But she didn't stop there. Drawing on her background as a credit union CEO, Eva brought her financial expertise directly to the organization — forming IHDF's Finance Committee, developing Investment Committee governance guidelines, and helping build the infrastructure that keeps an organization healthy for decades.
She is also a true ambassador — recruiting friends and colleagues through the simple force of her joyful, generous spirit. Her commitment benefits IHDF and draws others to serve.
Eva, thank you. The infrastructure you helped build, the scholars you've championed, and the people you've brought through the door have made IHDF a stronger organization.
Community partnership in action
Inaugural Dreamers Elevated Endowed Scholarship Recipients: Daniel and Isabella
Last month, at a Celebration of Scholars hosted by Local Change Foundation, two Dreamer Scholars — Daniel and Isabella — became the inaugural recipients of the Dreamers Elevated Endowed Scholarship: made possible through a partnership between Local Change Foundation, Elevations Credit Union, IHDF, and donors who believe access to higher education should never be determined by circumstance.
At the celebration, IHDF Executive Director Dr. Perla Delgado spoke directly to the recipients: "Tonight is about much more than a scholarship. It is about opportunity. It is about hope. It is about the belief that every student — regardless of their background, income, language, immigration story, or life circumstances — deserves access to higher education and the opportunity to pursue their dreams."
The scholarship is endowed — built to last, and built to grow. As Dr. Delgado put it, a scholarship is never only financial support. It carries a message: "We believe in you. We are investing in your future. You deserve this opportunity."
What makes their story even more remarkable: the Dreamers Elevated Scholarship comes on top of up to $10,000 in postsecondary support Daniel and Isabella can expect directly from IHDF — plus the additional funding our postsecondary team helps Dreamer Scholars discover and apply for every year. This is what a full community of support looks like.
We are tremendously proud of them both.
