"I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County is seeking mission-aligned community and business leaders for terms beginning October 1, 2026.
Since 1990, "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County (IHDF) has walked alongside Dreamer Scholars and their families — From 1st Grade to First Job. We make long-term commitments to systemic educational equity rather than short-term fixes.

We're looking for strategic partners to help us strengthen our organizational foundation, enhance our public standing, and guide our next chapter.
What We're Looking For
We welcome diverse perspectives and are especially seeking leaders with professional expertise in:
Education K–12, higher education, workforce development, or policy pathways.
Strategic Marketing & Communications Brand building, digital media, public relations, and regional storytelling.
Legal Nonprofit governance, compliance, risk management, labor/employment law, or advocacy pathways.
The Board Development Committee actively welcomes candidates with varied professional backgrounds whose unique networks, expertise, and lived experiences can advance our organizational capacity.

Board Service at a Glance
The Commitment A three-year term, eligible for up to three consecutive terms. Board members provide strategic oversight and organizational planning under Policy Governance principles.
Meetings Active preparation and participation in monthly board meetings, held the second Wednesday of each month, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM (in-person or virtually). Note: missing more than four meetings in a planning year constitutes a resignation.
Committee Service Active engagement on at least one standing committee or task force (e.g., Board Development, Audit/Investment, Community Linkage).
Financial Stewardship An annual monetary donation that is personally meaningful and relative to individual capacity.

The mission of "I Have A Dream" Foundation of Boulder County is to partner with youth and their families as they successfully navigate school, college, and career by providing a holistic academic, social, and emotional program from elementary school through college, along with postsecondary scholarship assistance.
Our dream is a world where every child has equitable access to the educational and career opportunities that will ignite their innate potential.

Determining the organization's mission and understanding its purpose
Selecting, supporting, and evaluating the performance of the Chief Executive
Engaging in active strategic and organizational planning
Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and comprehensive financial management
Participating actively in fundraising and resource development
Approving and monitoring the organization's programs and services
Enhancing the organization's public image and community standing
Assessing its own performance as the governing body
Ensuring absolute legal and ethical integrity

Know the organization's mission, policies, programs, and strategic needs
Faithfully read and comprehend financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings
Serve as active, informed advocates and ambassadors for the organization
Fully engage in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships
Leverage connections and networks to develop collective action for youth success
Give a personally meaningful annual monetary donation relative to individual capacity
Help identify connections that benefit fundraising, reputation, and public policy
Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in monthly board meetings
Participate fully in at least one standing committee or task force
Engage in ongoing learning about the community we serve
Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences into the boardroom

Uphold the legal duties of care, loyalty, and obedience in nonprofit governance. Follow the organization's bylaws, policies, and board resolutions. Sign and maintain an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure. Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all internal and sensitive organizational matters.
