How these suggestions are made

This tool weighs your answers across four things research shows actually shape how people give: your capacity, your stage of life, what motivates you, and how you like to stay involved. It then matches you to the giving paths that tend to fit best — and you're always free to choose any of them.

The motivation styles draw on long-standing donor-behavior research (Prince & File's study of philanthropic motivations) and generational giving data (Giving USA / Dunham+Company and the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy). Suggestions are starting points, not limits.

Internal notes — for IHDF team (remove before publish)
  • Stage: mechanism + content draft. Brand/style pass to follow (fonts, color system, motion, layout in Squarespace).
  • CTA links: every "Give / Start the conversation / Explore" button is a placeholder # — wire to the matching Ways-to-Give page or ColoradoGives once URLs are set.
  • Class Sponsorship figure: "$4,000/year" is the working figure carried from the giving section — confirm with Development.
  • Monthly program name: "Dream Sustainers" is a suggestion — confirm or replace.
  • Leadership tiers: Dream Supporter $5k / Builder $10k / Maker $25k per the donor packet — confirm current names/amounts.
  • Per-dollar impact lines (e.g. "$25/mo…") are illustrative placeholders — replace with Development-approved equivalencies. Verified org-wide stats (100% grad, 85% postsecondary, 1,500+ served, up to $10,000 scholarship) are safe to use.
  • Tax credit: 50% Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit; the "consult a tax professional" disclaimer is included per standing practice.
  • Legacy Society name: "Eugene Lang Legacy Society" — confirm it carries through the rebuild before recognition materials.
  • Scoring is transparent and editable — all question weights live in the QUESTIONS / ORG_QUESTIONS arrays in the script for easy tuning.
